A production of Sri Jayabheri Art Productions directed by Trivikram, for the first 40 days after its release ATHADU did not have much of the public interest & attention but after that became a smashing hit in Tollywood. Hero Mahesh Babu had a big hit after his previous movie ARJUN.
The theme of the movie was about a professional assasin who was committed to do his job to the agreed terms. Mahesh Babu's action was very professional and he personified the character.
It starts on a rainy night with Nandu an orphan boy killing the local gang leader. Credit goes to Director Trivikram who was very much successful in showing the bravery and commitment in the character. This orphan kills the gangster, unknown was the person who hired him and gave him a pistol.
The grown up Nandu was into professional assassinations by taking the help of Malli who was a meticulous planner in escapes. Siva Reddy chief of a political party plans to have an assassination attempt on his own life so that he can get majority in the coming elections to become the chief minister of the state. He takes the help of his associate Bachi reddy to hire Nandu. What happens when Nandu was about to pull trigger? and Did any one pull the trigger else where?
Falling victim of some unforeseen consequences, Nandu escapes the police and lands in a remote village as Pardhu, a poor fellow who gave his life and saved Nandu, also gave him his identity. Why does Nandu go to Pardhu's village home? Why does he take the identity of Pardhu? What did he miss and what did he aspire?
The trail of Anjaneya Prasad who is a CBI Inspector shows his hunger to hunt the criminal but not to feast on innocent. Who was innocent? and Who is the criminal?
The movie has something for everyone, crime, mystery, love, romance, comedy and a good sentiment which reformed Nandu in the end.
